Muevo Monthly #1
I hope this message finds you in great spirits and full of motivation for your training. I'm thrilled to welcome you to the inaugural edition of Muevo Monthly!
Allow me to introduce myself briefly, share a little of my story, and give you a rundown of what you can expect from this weekly newsletter.
My name’s Chris Prattey, a strength and flexibility coach with a somewhat nomadic lifestyle. I have been travelling the world for the past 7 years, learning from masters of movement and sharing my knowledge and coaching people to become stronger more flexible versions of themselves.
I left the UK in 2016 after working an office job for 2 years. I managed to save enough money for a long 6 month trip around Latin America. Little did I know that those 6 months would soon turn into 7 years and what started off as just trip would turn into my life.
From Liverpool to Tulum Mexico 2016
My true passion for fitness began one day in my early 20’s when the bouncer at my favourite bar in Liverpool stopped me at the door and said to me in his booming Ghanaian accent “Chris, it’s time you stopped drinking and start boxing. Come to my boxing class.”
“I don’t think I’ll stop drinking, but yeah sure Jules, I’ll come to your class” I said as I tapped him on the shoulder and headed for the bar.
Needless to say, that first class absolutely killed me. It was then I realised I wasn’t so effortlessly fit as I was in my teens, years of partying and a poor diet during university had taken its toll and if I wanted to be strong and agile I would have to work for it. He doesn’t know it, but Jules changed the trajectory of my life.
I began boxing twice a week, rock climbing 3 times a week and cleaned up my diet. I didn’t quit drinking though, not yet anyway. I stuck to this plan for a year. This was my first taste of what consistency can achieve. I was hooked.
I then left the UK for Mexico and quickly realised that if I wanted to maintain, or even improve upon what I had built over the past year I would need a way to consistently train while on the road. What better way than training with just my own bodyweight; I could train anywhere, anytime, with minimal equipment.
So I dove into the profundity of bodyweight training, calisthenics, gymnastic strength training and flexibility. Absorbing everything I could from Youtube, PubMed, Reddit, and hundreds of books. This soon evolved into hiring coaches, attending workshops, and taking courses. Topics we'll explore in future Muevo Monday editions.
I trained regularly and hard; on the beach, in the jungle, in the hostel, at the park, everywhere and anywhere. People would often comment on my commitment and training style, they were intrigued and inspired. For those that asked, I would share everything I knew for free and we would train together.
I’ve always loved teaching. The act of articulating new concepts is a journey of rediscovery and reinforcement, unveiling knowledge gaps and prompting further exploration to attain a deeper, more comprehensive understanding. I found that good teaching isn’t just a one way dialogue it's a dynamic feedback loop that propels both the teacher and the learner toward deeper insights and mastery.
In Peru I travelled and trained with one guy for a few months, we became close friends. We were both making great progress, getting stronger and stronger as we passed from one mountain town to another, high in the Andes. One day, after a particularly successful training session he said to me “Dude, you should do this as a job, you’re great at it, I’ve become stronger than I’ve ever been before!”.
He became another one of the few people who have changed the course of my life.
Ok, that’s enough about me. What’s the goal of Muevo Mondays and what can you expect? Find out more below…

The Muevo Monthly Mission
This newsletter will be your passport to exclusive insights into my personal training, valuable tips for achieving strength and flexibility goals, step-by-step tutorials for mastering key exercises, and the occasional discounts on my coaching services and programs.
I’ll be discussing my thoughts on various training methods, sharing what’s worked for me and what’s worked for my clients in the hopes that you can choose a journey that will work for you. I’ll write about lessons I’ve learned from my travels and during my experience exploring gymnastic strength and flexibility as an adult. I may even touch on nutrition. Who knows? If you have any suggestions, recommendations, or feedback, I’d love to hear it.
Thanks again for signing up and I look forward to seeing you in future editions of Muevo Mondays!
Happy training and happy travels!
